Out & About

The view across the River Tamar at high tide

On the banks of the River Tamar that forms the border between Devon and Cornwall, the Count House is perfectly placed for exploring both of these beautiful counties. The Tamar Valley itself is not only a UNESCO World Hertitage Site, due to its extensive and significant mining history, but is also an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty where you will find ancient woodland and river valleys. Spend your days exploring the South West by bike, car or train, discovering the tors and valleys of Dartmoor or sitting on the terrace watching the ebb and flow of the tide.

There is an endless list of things to do and see nearby, but here are just a few of our favourites to help you start planning your visit. Click on one of our guides below and follow the links within them to find out more.
